https://ejournal.kyadiren.or.id/index.php/pulchra/article/view/41

This study aims to determine whether the Task-based Learning (TBL) strategy can improve the speaking skills of 11th-grade students at MAN 2 Palu City. Using quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 428 students as the population. The sample was selected purposively, with XI MIPA 1 serving as the experimental group and XI MIPA 3 as the control group. The research instrument consisted of pre-tests and post-tests. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' speaking skills after implementing TBL, as the t-value (4.092) exceeded the t-critical value (1.996) at a significance level of 0.05 with df=67. The hypothesis was accepted, confirming that TBL is effective in enhancing students' speaking abilities. Thus, this strategy can be applied as a teaching approach to foster speaking skill development.
Feny Nur Adzani Mochtar MarhumAnjar Kusuma DewiMuhammad Arid

https://ejournal.kyadiren.or.id/index.php/pulchra/article/view/42

This study examines errors in Indonesian usage in public spaces in Palu City, focusing on non-standard language, grammatical inaccuracies, spelling, and punctuation. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation and documentation, analyzed with Krippendorf's content analysis model. The findings reveal 69 errors, including 40 prefix, 15 suffix, 10 preposition, 3 title, and 1 word usage errors. The most frequent issue was incorrect "di" prefix usage. Errors stem from two main factors: lack of awareness of language rules and low linguistic knowledge in the community. These mistakes risk negatively influencing the younger generation by normalizing incorrect usage. The study emphasizes the need for increased education and socialization to promote proper Indonesian language use, fostering greater awareness and adherence to linguistic standards.
Suparni Suparni

https://ejournal.kyadiren.or.id/index.php/pulchra/article/view/43

This study aims to explore and analyze the various factors contributing to the decline in the use of the Kaili language among the younger generation in Sibalaya Village, Tanambulava District. The focus is on its diminishing role as both a daily social language and a medium for conveying the cultural values of the Kaili tribe. A qualitative approach is employed, as the data collected consists primarily of oral and written narratives. Data collection methods include observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, with the findings analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results indicate that several factors contribute to the decline of the Kaili language in Sibalaya Village, particularly among the younger generation. These include social changes and the influence of modernization. Nonetheless, the Regional Government of Sigi Regency is actively working to address this issue by incorporating the Kaili language into the curriculum of all schools in the regency.
Mu’jizat Mu’jizat

https://ejournal.kyadiren.or.id/index.php/pulchra/article/view/39

This study examines the language styles used in netizens’ posts and comments on social media during the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes primary data in the form of written social media content and secondary data from relevant literature, utilizing orthographic and referential matching techniques. Among the 100 instances of hate speech identified, 30 distinct language styles were observed, with sarcasm (50 occurrences), hyperbole (30 occurrences), irony (20 occurrences), and rhetoric (10 occurrences) being the most prevalent. These language styles reflect expressions of dissatisfaction, anger, and criticism, while also capturing public attention. Sarcasm and irony effectively convey sharp satire, hyperbole introduces dramatic emphasis, and rhetoric evokes emotional reactions. The findings reveal that social media serves as a platform for political opinion contests, where language style functions as a strategic tool to construct narratives and influence public perception persuasively.
Syamsuddin Syamsuddin

https://ejournal.kyadiren.or.id/index.php/pulchra/article/view/45

This study investigated the effectiveness of Small Group Discussion (SGD) technique in developing English speaking skills among Grade IX students at SMPN 3 Banawa, Indonesia. Through a quasi-experimental design, 49 students were divided into experimental and control groups, focusing on expressions of hope, wishes, and congratulations. The experimental group received SGD treatment over four meetings, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods. Statistical analysis revealed significant improvement in the experimental group’s speaking skills, with mean scores increasing from 38.94 to 71.15. The t-test results (t-counted=3.70462, t-table=2.01174, p<0.05) demonstrated SGD’s effectiveness in enhancing students’ speaking fluency and appropriacy. The findings suggest that SGD creates a supportive learning environment that boosts student confidence and participation in English speaking activities, offering valuable insights for language teaching methodology.
Feren Putri PatriciaMawardin Muhammad SaidAndi PatmasariMochtar Marhum
