Vol. 2 No. 2 (2023): Pulchra Lingua: A Journal of Language Study, Literature & Linguistics
This issue features original research that continues to advance our understanding of language acquisition, linguistic analysis, and innovative techniques for language learning. The issue opens with a study examining the use of machine translation for vocabulary building and reading comprehension in ESL students. Ethnographic research then provides insight into the rich symbolic meanings within an indigenous tradition. Linguistic analysis reveals common pronunciation errors made by EFL learners. A look at youth gang naming practices demonstrates linguistic resistance and identity creation. Finally, a quantitative study shows the benefits of singing for ESL vocabulary, pronunciation, and translation skills.
