The rapid growth of Indonesia's gaming industry underscores the need for game localization research. This study examines translation challenges in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang skin names containing cultural references. Using qualitative content analysis, thirty skin names from Japanese, Greek, Chinese, Norse, and Egyptian mythologies were analyzed. This study used Newmark’s (1988) framework of translation procedures and translation challenges proposed by Baker (1992). Findings reveal five challenges: lexical gaps, culture-bound meanings, religious sensitivity, interface constraints, and copyright issues. The five competencies are text-derived pedagogical implications. The study concludes that students must develop five competencies: recognizing untranslatability, applying domestication or foreignization, cultivating cultural sensitivity, and understanding legal aspects. This research bridges academic translation training and the practical demands of Indonesia's game localization industry, contributing to the development of future translators in the country.
